Nuits-Saint-Georges
Origin
Estate grown, produced, aged and bottled by Dufouleur Frères
Terroir
AOC Nuits-Saint-Georges - 100% Pinot-Noir
Nuits-Saint-Georges is the village that gave its name to the Côte de Nuits. Known throughout the world, it is the classic small viticultural village. Halfway between Beaune and Dijon, and facing east, the vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges extend over 6 kilometers, amounting to 160 hectares (395 acres) of the appellation Villages.
The difference in the soils, in the orientations, and situations bring a great diversity of terroirs. Maison Dufouleur Frères exploits four different parcels in the village and makes a harmonious blend giving birth to a great Nuits-Saint-Georges, iron sword of the domain.
Wine Making
Fermentation occurs over two to three weeks in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, which measure the phenologic components extracted when pumping the skins over, and ensure the least possible pressure on the skins
The aging occurs in oak barrels over 12 to 18 months, with the proportion of new oak varying from 30% to 100% depending upon an analysis, tasting, and evaluation of each vintage.
Tasting notes
2009 : Nice red-black cherry colour, fruitiness, cherry and toast, with all the vigour expected of Nuits-Saint-Georges and an added sophistication and elegance.
